still wishing for a modern karate game like Taekwondo Grand Prix
next crap game- skidrow idiot 100%
It’s a GoG game. Skidrow has nothing in common with that – you pathetic moron.
Could you be dumber? Yeah, you could.
Its a classic 1984 game bro, the best of the commodore, but i think you are too millenial to understand it.
But the game as such was so slow and thus hardly playable, nevertheless the animation of the sprite was great.
The only idiot I see here is you zuzozezo 12444
and u fight against blue aliens or what ?
now days kids wont remember this game
This is a knockoff (almost identical) to a Nintendo game. Was it Kung Fu?
I’m 47 (Sept 5th) and I’ve been playing games for over 40 years (Started with Atari 2600). It’s a shame because it seems that we made it up to around RDR 2 and then started falling back. Games have taken a HUGE step backwards, damn near 35 years.
Every game that comes out now looks like Nintendo and some Super Nintendo games. The only difference is that they’re incomplete , early access and never get updated and they want to charge everyone full price.
You all need to seriously learn to just stop buying their junk and spend your $$ elsewhere. They’re 100% copying most old Nintendo games, just research them. I’m quiet sure I remember a game called Kung Fu as a child that looked like this one..
I’m 47 as well (May), before Nintendo expanded to the UK there was a game called IK+. It was on the Commodore 64 and the ZX Spectrum range. There were many knock offs, and there was a Kung Fu game but that was called Kung Fu Master and it was a side scrolling game in which you had to kick or punch your way through.
what are you on dude? this game first released back in 1984. 1 month after nintendo’s kung-fu master. its just a documentary on how they made it back then.
56 here. It wasn’t a knockoff. Kung-Fu came out in Japan only about 6 weeks before. Kung-Fu was about a tounament and Karateka was about a girl. Just because both are side scrolling martial arts games doesn’t mean one is a knock off. If it was then Ninja Gaiden and Double Dragon are knock offs too.
Drink your fiber and sit down, grandpa.
The NES Kung Fu (1985) was a console port of the Irem Kung Fu Master (1984) arcade machine. Karateka also had an NES release in 1985. Yie-Ar Kung Fu and Karate Champ both also came out in 1984, along with Jordan Mechner’s Karateka, which is what this documentary is about. All around the same time everyone had the same idea for a side-scrolling fighter, and all of them came up with something similar.
Nothing is a copy of anything else, and I don’t know what a 38 year old Apple II game has to do with modern jewish studios making garbage today, but OK. Take your evening shit and a nap old man.

KAteka was a mark. Still good to play this day. “Put fear and self concern behind ypu, focus your will on your opponent, accepting death as a possibility. This is the way of the karateka.” Amazing. I followed that and won several awards as a karateka in real life. Amazing game. Try it.
You all realize that Karateka is a 40 year old game that originally came out on the Apple II, yes? I had so many great memories playing this game back in the 80’s, and when I finally beat it (hint, run, don’t walk) it was immensely satisfying! Very cinematic for the time, and hard to believe the teenage creator would move on to make the legendary Prince of Persia! Hellz yeah!!
Karate is worthless martial art, doesn’t work in streets. I’ve being studiying karate for many years and the only thing I learned is when my sensei said to me: “Warwitch, it’s time to go on your knees, close your eyes and open your mouth”. Then I tried to apply to my school bullies and they ripped my ass with a baseball bat. ET does the same every week and nobody is complaining.
