Damn, 14 GB just to get an error
running might & magic heroes VI.exe did nothing, running game.exe brought registry error

You need to edit HOMMVI.reg and run it then to pass that registry error. But I am stuck at black screen after launch, with both .exe files. Editing fullscreen and optimilization options does not work. I have 1.8 older version, which works fine. This is 2.2.1 I think. Bad cracking.
Edit all paths in HOMMVI.reg, run it.
Then game.exe – right click – properties – set compatibility to Windows 7, turn off fullscreen opt. and then run it as admin.
I am now pass the black screen and game works fine.

Ok, I had extra issues, as I run on Linux
editing & running .reg file was the first obstacle – checked
setting the correct Wine / Proton version – checked
setting the right .exe attributes & prefixes – checked.
