     make sure C drive and D drive have sufficient space

   I also get the out of stack range / out of string range
   looked up the error and it’s a windows filename problem i guess
   so i changed install directory to just “D:\mw5”
   and i still get it
   i blame the dogshit gog installer because it also, despite me having 50gb free on C drive, came up with error about running out of space on drive C, when trying to extract some temp file to some insane temp directory (something like C:\goggames\setup_mechwarrior_5_1.1.351_(64bit)_(68320)\t7scdehfka3jdklg4h393754398c7s78z8d73428s7d7z\2738492783905837473878z

   had to manually rename the fucking files to just mw5-1.bin, mw5-2.bin, etc.
   now it fucking works
   absolutely unbelievable how bad this shit is programmed. PGI idiots cant even make a fucking installer properly. they also have this problem with mechwarrior online, where every time i go to patch it even if it’s for like a 20mb patch it redownloads the entire 50+gb game again, so you better have that space free, then it deletes the old version.
   bad bad game design logistically.

   For offline installers, make sure you have a lot of free space during installation (about 2x the size of the game files). This is because the files are first decompressed to a temporary directory. The installer does it in a dumb way that takes twice the space during install.
   Windows is dogshit monkeyfuck trash so you need to go to “system -> advanced system settings -> environment variable -> change where the TEMP and TMP folders should be _> restart > install the game again”
   OR free up more hard drive space on the drive that has the TEMP/TMP folders.
   or at least rename the temp locations from ” users\user\appdata\local\,” to just C:\tmp
   or something.
