I’ll warn ya’ll people.
The game is garbage if it comes to campaign, story and MP right now. Too many cut scenes that don’t push the story-line, just “deepen” bloke characters with no real reason to exist apart from – we “need someone to show in our clips”
The story-line is just plain bad (rumors in the biz say it was rewritten far along the production line).
If you know Homeworld franchise well, this game is very different. Deserts of Kharak was far better as an RTS, anyway.
It has very few bugs, but the feel of the gameplay tends more toward the modern “arcade” style RTS, where your ships and units pop in milliseconds, just because.
Multiplayers is kinda rogue-lite, you’re using a far smaller fleet and do quests as turns.
Modding support is instantly in the game, through main menu – lots of mods out there.
The biggest issue is the DEI/woke echo chamber that it’s forums and discord became. People couldn’t critize the shortcomings of the game.
Your best bet with this game would be to buy it when it’s off or arr it and use mods. Homeworld community was extremely potent, making lots of nice mods that turned HW 2 into a game faring well almost 20 years after release. Seems this one will be modded harder – so, treat it as a “foundation” for a game that it will become due to mods.
Right now, avoid buying it. If you want similar experience, try Deserts of Kharak (astonishingly well narrated campaign and good feel in skirmishes), Homeworld online (grindy but manages to be compelling as a HW game).
As for now, it’s a good premise wasted by the woke garbage burden and DEI pushed into it, mixed with an attempt to make some fun MP gameplay which gets boring FAST!
