Okay, I bought the game on steam back in win 7, installed windows 10 fresh (its still mostly 8.1 under the hood) shogun 2 wouldnt play at all, went up and down every help forum google could find. NOTHING worked.
I downloaded this version, applied the crack that came with it to my already installed steam version, and it works perfectly now.
Y’all totally 1-upped sega. I don’t even care that I have to (tunngle) LAN-party for multiplayer. It works, I’m happy.

You have to make sure your antivirus will ignore the game’s folder, and probably turn it off during install.

well it looks like I didn’t installed one of those c++ libraries stuff at the end of the setup because they were unchecked by default so I assumed I already had them. Reinstall and make sure you install them this time.

Hey guys im trying to playy multiplayer with a friend but when either of us host a game it doesnt show up for the other (using a virtual lan) anyopne got a fix/no what the problem is?
I keep getting an error report when installing the file movies2.pack and onward. It says there was an incorrect fuction. I can retry, abort or ignore. Retrying won’t work and ignoring doesn’t either since I then have to ignore all the sound, terrain and shader packs too. I also encountered some hickups during the download. Do I need to re-download the file and retry installing the game?

However, the mod manager isnt cracked or whatever, so mod seems to be unplayable on this release, but thats possibly a problem with all Shogun 2 releases since the mod manager requires steam-ing pile of crap to function.

Is it possible to download only the total war shogun 2 main game and some of the DLC’s. And not downloading the fall of the samurai and rise of the samurai campaign DLC cause it doesn’t work when you are using Win 8/8.1
I figured out how to make mods work. Find and download the “Pack File Manager” for Shogun 2, its a modding tool. Select the Pack files for your mod, and change them to “movie type”. They will automatically load when the game starts

It worked! Just had a little trouble though.
Since lot of you encountered the problem on logo screen crash maybe this could help somehow.
*disable ur antivirus when u extract/install
*copy the Prophet folder files into the game directory, /programfiles/sega/totalwarshogun2
*make sure u also include the c++ in ur installation and also the directx
*install the adobe flash that’s included in the /programfiles/sega/tws2/redist – folder
*open steam and add this as “non-steam game”
I think it must be played on steam so it’ll not crash upon game execution.
In some cases, those who have mcaafee webadvisor, try uninstalling/removing it.

FIRST STEP: DISABLE YOUR ANTIVIRUS

SECOND STEP: NOW COPY AND PASTE THE “STEAM_API_EXT. DLL FILE” IN THE INSTALLER FOLDER(MAIN FOLDER)
THIRD STEP: IT SHOULD SAY THAT THE “STEAM_API_EXT. DLL FILE” IS CORRUPTED OR MISSING.
FOURTH STEP: GO TO YOUR ANTIVIRUS “OPTIONS “ADVANCED SETTINGS” AND LOOK FOR THE “EXCEPTIONS” BROWSE THE “STEAM_API_EXT. DLL FILE” AND CLICK OK.

whats the language of the game?
If you’re having an issue with the “dummy file” thing, it means you didn’t install the crack. The Crack is inside the .iso, so after you mount it with a program like Daemon Tools, open the drive and a folder will be inside named “Crack”
You will move the contents of the crack folder into the installation directory for Shogun 2. If you’re having problems moving the .dll, it means your antivirus probably picked it up. It’s a good idea to disable your antivirus completely and adding the file as an exception before trying to move it. AV can be picky. I used malwarebytes and didn’t have a problem, but it seems to be the biggest problem on this thread.
Also, if you’re having problems getting the game started (black splash screen, crashes, etc) it probably means you need to install Direct X and C++ packages that the installer suggests at the end. You can either try reinstalling and checking all the boxes, or looking up what programs it needs to run.

The game stops working then crashes on the first screen of the game (the one with the Total War: SHOGUN 2, trademarks and copyright screen) I am on Win10.
After searching all day. Here’s what I have done but failed
– running:
dxsetup.exe

vcredist_x86-90.exe
vcredist_x86-sp1.exe
– updating flash player, drivers, etc.
– running as admin and Win7 compatibility mode
The problem still persists!
Theres also an error whenever I reinstall the DirectX and C++:

So i downloaded it and went to do my thing by coping the crack files and guess what it wont let me move the steam_api files, says i need permisson from all Users???? im the only user and admin so i dont get what the problem is.

If the game won’t start on clicking you need to install redist++ 2005 which install option pops up after game instalation. (Atleast this solved my problems with running this)

Does it run on Windows 10? If not, is there any way to make it run?
Jesus guys, it can run on Windows 10,Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7…… And crack games doesn’t come with Multiplayer (Meaning it’s only singleplayer). If you want multiplayer, go buy the game.
I need help… it says Dummy File when I try to run it.

Although the game works, but when I quit the screen still stays on until I realized something. In Task Manager, it shows that the game is running. I know I should not ask here but how to fix it ?

I didn’t have mcAfee, but apparently I did have mcAfee Webadvisor.
Uninstalling it fixed my problem.
pls check yours if u have mcafee webadvisor also, bcoz apparently it kinda comes with the windows 8 installation package .. double check by right clicking on start> control panel > uninstall program and find that f*in mcafee webadvisor thinggy.. once found uninstall that b*tch back to oblivion and try to re run the game…
