I’m psyched for this game (even though I wish it was RTwP like BG 1&2 instead of turn based) but I would suggest waiting. This is only act 1 of the game, once the full game comes out in a year or whatever you will probably have to redownload the whole game and play through the whole first act (about 20 hours) which will probably take a lot of enjoyment out of the full game. That same thing happened to me with Torment Tides of Numanera when I got the early access from here. Once the full game came out it wasnt as fun because I already played through a third to a half of the game. Just wait for the full version, or buy the game so that your early access save file will work with the full version when it comes out.

@janitor this game isn’t a strategy game. it’s rpg. a classical rpg to boot, using d&d rules. also, 65GB is the norm nowadays. Keep up.
early access is slowly becoming the new beta, allowing the developers to either:
a) if they’re AAA reassure their investors the business is doing well even before distribution (as EA is still a paid-for product, unlike beta access). this can be a good thing, as the developers can focus on fixing bugs before actual release alongside finishing the game. and of course – it’s also for free PR boost and money.
b) if they’re a small company, boost the budget with EA release
the slow torrent download is due to there being more people still downloading and not having the full file seeding. if you had downloaded, keep it seeding, don’t be a leech.

Slightly laggy but works fine with old phenom II x6 1050t @3.5ghz, 8gb ddr3 and rx 580 on near max settings at 1440p (texture loading is slow from 2 raid hhds with vulkan)

Game is utter garbage it plays not like old BG but like a JRPGs in turn. They managed to fuck up a straight up winner. Fucking idiots.
Installation is trying to also put 70GB into my 110GB SSD with Windows installed in it, instead of putting all of the files into my 1TB SSD. Decided it wasn’t worth the trouble.

Run flawless in Dx11 even in my 2010 crap PC.
The game start in Vulkan and Ultra resolution. It’s best to check those if you have a problem.
Combat is better than I tought it would be. Way better than the mess that was pathfinder.

I notice something like this as well, i am installing it now, I told it to go to my S drive, but it is putting some HUGE GB onto my C (main) drive. I was running out of space on my C drive and it said cannot install to app/roam temp or something like that, so i think it is just roaming files or something. Not the full game. The game is still downloading on my S drive. I would guess around 28-35 GB went onto the C drive, so you should try to clear at least that much, but this is just during the install.
IMPORTANT
The GB that are used on your main drive are just some kind of place holder and after the install it will return to normal and you will get your space back. So if you are worried about the install, just check if you have about 30 GB free on your main drive EVEN if you are downloading to another drive. This is temporary space that for some reason or another the installation needs it.

Right click on This PC >>> Properties >>>> Advanced System settings >>>> Advanced Menu >>>> Environment Variables >>> Change the value of TEMP and TMP to D:\temp >>> click ok >>> Try to install again.

I’m pretty sure this installation has problems. Basically crashes at the menu, then it’s impossible to launch the game again without it crashing. Tried compatability preferences, alt+tab fixes, updating gfx drivers, running as admin, all the fixes they listed with no luck.

Hey guys! First of all sorry for my english and thanks for helping me. I have a problem, when i download the torrent i get one aplication file and 17 BIN files. Daemon Tools dont let me fire those BIN files and the aplication file crack me, more or less at the middle of the instalation. Do someone know what i can do? Maybe im getting a mistake in the process of install that game :/.

dl the game for nothing, i use the patch, i click on play, i have an infinite black screen with vulkan or x11…2hours to dl and install for nothing…
To change language, go to \Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Localization, then modify the language.lsx files with for eg. notepad.
At line 11 : change value=English to your language eg. : value=French, save it and run the game 😉

Do not waste your time downloading this crap, super slow installation for a Ryzen, it hardly consumes computer resources and so it takes more than an hour to install and when it gets close to the end it locks you forcing you to close the program. I was unable to install, in addition to the errors during the installation I never know what they mean.

This is more like a strategy rpg, where you point and click and move your players around. not my cup of tea but to each his own right? not gonna waste my time and space downloading a 65 gb early access game that isnt even finished. maybe i’ll take a chance on the finished game, but not while its still in early access.

If you have problems with blackscreen on start.
Seems that the game has got problems with initializing fullscreen on startup and needs to start with window not in focus.
1. before you launch the game have any folder open in a file explorer
2. start the game from the launcher using dx11
3. immediately after that grab the explorer window with the mouse and start dragging it randomly all over the screen
4. …. and voilà , game starts in the background.
Game works fine for me, except minor game bugs and glitches which are expected on early access game, little dumb down version of previous baldurs games but still kinda satisfied they they it turned out to be

If you hold down shift while pressing play on the larian launcher with the game set to dx11, and have the bg3dx11.exe set to run as administrator, then the game will launch fine. Someone in another thread that I can’t find right now found out that windows 7 had 2 versions of run as administrator, one which requires shift to be held in order to actually elevate priveledges.

Ya sin hablar de los fallos graficos que tiene, y la inteligencia artificial a la altura de un retrasado mental profundo, el resto del juego se crashea cada poco, los enemigos se travan solos, las partidas LAN son insufribles, menos mal, que no he pagado por este juego….
The GOG Launcher always need twice the Games Temporary Space and he saves those tmp Files on your System partition.
I had the same Problem, and there is a simple solution to it.
Either get a bigger SSD for Windows, or change the temp folder from your system partition to another one with more space.
You can do that under system environment…

Game not running?
Try clicking BG3-dx11.exe directly from the “bin” folder instead of the launcher. Don’t forget to set as administrator.
